In connection with the high floods Norway has had the recent days, Orkla also got its water this weekend. The river has gone up and down and up again until this morning. It appears that the worst is over now with a peak of more than 300m3 this morning (at the highest it was around 350m3 in the lower parts). Hopefully this was the flood that starts a good run! The high temperature makes the river easy runned for the salmons, now it's pased over 643 salmons at the counter on Bjørset dam in Meldal. We got this years first river-flow 1st week of may with a max at 333 m³.Untill last week, more than 300 fish have passed the counter at the Bjorset-Dam. After nearly 2 weeks with clear sky and up to 30 degrees air temps, it looks like we get a weather change from this weekend. Our spanish guests have had some nice days in Orkla and so far landed 8 salmons (average 20,6 pound/9,3 kg !). Another great salmon landed at our lowest pool Øya. Nils Bastiansen had a hard fight against this 13,5 kg (29,8 pounds) giant with the fly-rod for 1/2 hour this morning. Condition dates: 108 cm long and 61 cm waist.

This great salmon was catched at our lowest pool wedensday evening, weight 30,4 Pound (13,8 kg). According to preliminary figures, the total river catch of salmon, sea trout and migratory charamounted to 507 tonnes in 2005, an increase of about 100 tonnes compared with 2004.
